The Albany, NY Times Union newspaper (TimesUnion.com) has an article up noting that Florida doctor Gary Brandwein has plead guilty to distributing steroids and human growth hormone to top celebrities and professional wrestlers who had no legitimate medical needs for the products. The story mentions that one of his clients was Chris Benoit who received prescriptions from Brandwein for nandrolone and testosterone in December 2005 and February 2006.
The Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA) and WWE today announced the 10 regional finalists who will compete to become this year’s national WrestleMania Reading Challenge Champion. Each finalist won airfare, hotel, and spending cash for two to Orlando, tickets to WrestleMania XXIV, $2,000 for their local or school library and a chance to compete in the WrestleMania Reading Challenge finals on March 29 at the Orlando Public Library. WWE’s latest Wrestlemania XXIV marketing ploy is to advertise in boxing gyms in major cities across the country.
WWE has pulled Ron Killings from appearing on any more shows for the AAA promotion in Mexico, reports Jason Powell at prowrestling.NET. He told them that he would not be able to honor the remaining days he had scheduled and cited WWE as the cause. Killings is under WWE contract, but is not expected to start appearing on WWE television until after WrestleMania.
