Jim Ross On Flair vs. Orton, Austin/TNA, Rock’s Return, & More

Jim Ross has posted a new “Q&A” post on his website. Here are the highlights:

On whether or not Owen Hart will be inducted into the WWE Hall Of Fame: I definitely think Owen will be in the WWE HOF someday without fail. Whether it is 2008 or sometime in the future is TBD.

On Ric Flair’s future, and the possibility of Randy Orton retiring him: I have no idea what the future holds for Ric but the man that beats him will have a lasting impression on his resume forever. Orton is a obviously a viable consideration. Personally I canât imagine wrestling without Ric Flair “walking the aisle”.

His thoughts on Gorilla Monsoon: Gorilla was one of my most beloved mentors. He was like a father figure to me. I think of him virtually every single day. His commentary is underrated by some and his interaction with Bobby Heenan may never be duplicated. When I wasnât the most popular hire when I originally came to the WWE in 1993, Gorilla was my trusted confidant and broke the ice with many WWE hardliners who generally gave me the cold shoulder. I loved Gorilla Monsoon.

On whether TNA is making fun of Steve Austin with the “Stone Cold Shark Boy” gimmick: I do not see that TNA is making fun of Austin but instead they are trying to use Steveâs image to draw attention to one of their characters. This isnât any thing new in the business.

On whether Steve Austin will be going to TNA: I can assure you that you are not going to see Steve Austin in TNA.

On whether Steve Austin will be suing TNA over the Shark Boy gimmick: Highly unlikelyâ¦.Steve may not even be aware of it. Heâs never mentioned it to me and I talk to him regularly.

On whether Rock is returning for one night only to face Shawn Michaels: Not in my lifetime. I spoke to the Great One a few days ago and we never once mentioned the wrestling business. Heâs changed vocations which by the way isnât a crime.

On the real reason wrestlers attended the Brock Lesnar UFC debut: The wrestlers that I know that attended the Lesnar fight were there to support Brock and are fans of MMA. Plus it was Vegas on Super Bowl weekend!
