TNA Impact Review 12-27-07

As the year comes to a close, I was hoping that TNA would close 2007 with a great Impact broadcast. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case. Now that TNA seems to be giving title’s to their shows, we learned that tonight’s two hour Impact would focus on AJ Styles and his decision to join either Christian or Kurt Angle. It was appropriately titled âAJ’s Dilemmaâ. AJ started the night believing he could still play for both teams.

The opening bout involved Judas Mesias taking on Senshi. Didn’t Senshi quit TNA? Enough with the masks already. Judas Mesias now has one of his own. Father James Mitchell’s offspring? That’s subject to question. Hey Senshi, before you leave, would you mind getting your butt kicked? Senshi’s departure will be TNA’s loss. This was a squash match and was over before I could blink.

Up next, another lovers quarrel between Karen and Kurt Angle with a little bit of comedic value. Why does it seem that the writers behind the curtain always seem to run things into the ground? Sure, the Angles and Jeremy Borash are funny, but not for 2 months in a row. You call this creative?

Could Christian Cage’s character be any more cocky? I love it. When did Kurt Angle become this suave, GQ classy Champion? Men fighting over men. Where did all the Total Nonstop Action go? Talk about your drag out affairs, break up the Robert Roode/Ms. Brooks connection already. Did the TNA writers go on strike along with those in Hollywood? Come on, step it up already!

We were then supposed to see Robert Roode take on Booker T, but this match never even got started. The Angles were back again. Hey Chris Harris, I see what you mean. Cameras then shifted to the back with more talking by AJ Styles. When will it ever end?

The TNA Tag Team Champions, AJ Styles and Tomko took on The Motor City Machineguns in a non-title match. Ahhhhh, a wrestling match. What a novel idea? I was going to vote this the match of the night, but it might be the only match to choose from. The Motor City Machineguns are really starting to gel as a team. Both of these youngsters have great athletic ability. Eric Young seems to be everywhere. MCM picked up the victory. Nobody pulls off the red blazer like Jim Cornette. When will Matt Morgan finally wrestle in TNA?

The next match made me fell better thanks to the Knockouts. Roxxi Leveaux, Jackie Moore, and ODB took on Gail Kim, Angelina Love, and Velvet Sky. The TNA camera crew deserve a little recognition for their great work during the Knockout matches. Don’t you agree? I admit, I was hard on the Knockout Division at first, but they really have come a long way in such a short time. They define what female wrestlers should be. The competition should take notes.

A brave Mike Tenay decided to talk to Abyss in a rare interview with the Monster of TNA. He speaks! There now seems to be more secrets from Abyss’ past. Push those buttons Professor, just get ready to run when the big man comes after you.

Now it was time for Samoa Joe vs. Elix Skipper, the most anticipated match up in TNA history. Obviously I am just kidding. Hey Skipper, Joe’s gonna kill you! He did exactly that in the second squash match of the night involving a former member of Triple X. Why Joe Why? No really, I actually like this gimmick. Kill the all Joe. Kill them all!

Alright, just give Scott Steiner the World Title Shot and Petey Williams the X-Division Tile Shot. It just makes sense. Even though they are both genetic freaks (LOL), they are in completely different leagues, plus I could care less to see them in a match. Kaz should have just apologized. Dustin Rhodes is innocent. 🙂 What a leap by Kaz from the bleachers onto Dustin! This kid has talent. I am afraid that all Kaz did was wake up the demon from within. Black Reign is coming.

Kevin Nash actually had some great advice for AJ. I loved his reference to the New World Order and the L.W.O. Ahh, the good old days. Bring back Jeff Jarrett in 2008. I will campaign for this until it happens. Oh, and Sting too if you can. Overall, after viewing the video package that was aired, 2007 was a success for TNA as a whole.

The main event of the night saw Kurt Angle and Robert Roode take on Booker T. and Christian. Booker T. picked Christian for his partner. There is a shocker. Roode was the only one in the match that has never received a paycheck from Vince McMahon. Booker, for the love of god, cut that hair. Your going to trip on it. This was a decent match with the veterans really showcasing their ability. Pick me, pick me, pick me is pretty much how Impact ended. Overall, the show was horrible and a let down. I don’t know how TNA officials thought this would be a good way to end 07. Let’s just hope this doesn’t happen again.
