ECW Star Retires, ‘Mania Ticket Sales Update, More

As noted last night, Nicolas Cage was backstage at last night’s Ring of Honor event in New York City researching his lead role for the independent film “The Wrestler” that he will be starring in.

According to a report by Mike Johnson, former ECW star CW Anderson has announced his official retirement from pro wrestling. Anderson made his decision known via a phone conversation stating that he realized it was time to move on and focus on family. Anderson hadn’t wrestled for the last two months since his release from WWE as part of the company’s ECW brand, briefly returning to Japan and working for some independent promotions in the Mid-Atlantic region.

According to Central Florida News 13, 44,000 tickets were sold for WrestleMania 24 yesterday. WWE had initially reported that 41,000 tickets for the event were sold in just 30 minutes. The final setup for the show was set to feature 65,000-70,000 fans. The show is already the highest grossing event in Citrus Bowl history.
