WWE’s UK Territory Update, UK To Get 24/7 & More

Our buddies at The Sun Newspaper in the UK interviewed Andrew Whitaker, president of WWE in Europe, Middle East and Africa, just in time for the UK tour.

He comments that the WWE have split their company in to regions in order to have a clearer focus on each market and to aid expansion.

Interestingly he shot down the idea of the planned UK territory: “This may not be the company official line, but my view is our touring and TV shows are so pervasive that the fan base internationally may not settle for something other than what theyâve grown to love in Raw and Smackdown. As for all the new British and Irish wrestlers â” they are getting a chance not because of where they are from but because of their charisma and talent. That sells all over the world.”

He went on to say that Sky is a strong enough player to carry the WWE product and that terrestrial TV was an option but is no longer needed.

In a an exciting piece of news he said that they are working on a UK 24/7 subscription service but wouldn’t reveal any details.
