“I saw where I had missed a call on my phone that said ‘Unknown Caller’,” Conway told WZ.com, “and when I checked my message it was Johnny Ace’s secretary wanting me to call Johnny”. Conway had read earlier where they had released Too Cold Scorpio, so he started thinking he could be next on that list.
“I had been getting paid and not being used following my septum surgery,” he continued, “so I had already prepared myself mentally for my release and had no hard feelings”. It took a couple of days for the news to sink in and Rob was already focused on the next phase in his life and career.
Aside from spending time with friends and family since his release, Conway has been working for Dave Marquez’ section of the National Wrestling Alliance as “The Ironman” Rob Conway. “My current goal in wrestling is to be the NWA World Heavyweight Champion,” Conway announced.
Rob Conway has been busy with other projects as well since his release. “I have been working out hard in the gym and running at the track to stay in good condition for some up coming photo shoots with a couple magazines,” he said, “and I am also in talks with TV networks about being cast in a mini-series and another for a weekly TV series”.
As far as the WWE is concerned, Rob still watches all three shows. “I enjoy watching my friends wrestle,” he continued, “but I would like to see longer matches and promos that are less scripted to show off the guys’ true personalities”. Conway could see himself going back to the WWE as it’s a known fact that you normally get more than one shot if you want it.
Regarding the current Wellness Policy instituted within the WWE: “I hope that the policy helps the people that are in need of treatment and helps save their health in the long run. It did not affect me personally, but I do think it is good for the industry”.
Conway also told us that he does see TNA as a viable option. “TNA is very exciting to watch. They have a great TV atmosphere and some innovative ideas like the six-sided ring that makes it new and different from WWE”. They also have wrestlers that Rob has never stepped in the ring with, so that would be an added bonus should he ever work there.
Now that TNA is expanding, Conway says he could easily see himself working with the up-and-coming company. However, until that transpires – if it does – Conway is concentrating on one thing and one thing only: “For now, I have my sights set on becoming the NWA World Heavyweight Champion”.
