Chris Cash’s Take On ECW Last Night: 10/2

Extreme Championship Wrestling

October 2nd, 2007

As most of you can see, there are some new writers on WrestleZone.com, including myself. We should have opinionated reviews from here on out after all televised shows and all WWE/TNA pay per views. Please send your feedback to wzchriscash@yahoo.com.

As we heard here on WrestleZone.com, Vince McMahon had his big announcement to kick off last night’s show regarding Cena and the title. Huge loss for WWE.

A new champion will be crowned at No mercy this weekend! I would have liked to have known the challengers, but it does add a little excitement and suspense heading into the pay per view this Sunday.

The ECW Champion, CM Punk is out next. I’ll be honest, I don’t quite see the appeal with Punk that everyone else seems to, but he does have that “cool” personal down pat.

CM PUNK defeats MIKE KNOX

Good psychology within this match. Despite the size discrepancy with his opponents, Punk still bodes well in his matches with larger men.

Good technical skills displayed by Knox in the middle of this match; it’s real nice to see by the big man.

(bring on the commercial)

We’re back and Knox is now manhandling Punk. Finish saw the GTS on Knox and yes, it’s still that impressive! Good solid match to kick off the show.

(Balls is after this break – that is just so fun to say)

Here we go with Balls Mahoney in the ring and although it would never happen this way in real life, you’ve got to root for Balls as Kelly Kelly comes out. Tell us, Kelly! What is your answer to his “date” proposal last week?

SHE SAID YES!

And just as I started wiping my tears of joy off my face, enter the Miz. This angle would be so much better if Miz was…well…good. Neverthless, Mix owns Kelly Kelly apparently and this love triangle continues as Kelly leaves with the Miz yet again.

(we’ve got commercials, baby!)

TOMMY DREAMER defeats ELIJAH BURKE

You can’t beat this main event! Well, I guess you can, but it’s what we have tonight. Dreamer starts off early dominating and although he never has a problem going all out, he just seems sluggish in the ring to me. Come on Tommy, grab a chair or something! Stop wrestling already.

(you know what goes here by now)

I’ll give you one guess as to who has the advantage after the break. Not sure why they always have to do that! Burke takes too much time and here comes Dreamer. Damn, those punches look good by the ECW original. And Tommy goes back to what he does best – fighting!

Finish sees Dreamer with a major DDT – followed by the cover, and he’s on his way to No Mercy this Sunday to lose to Punk! This was a good, intense match and the crowd was really getting into it toward the end.

Wait – here’s Armando!

Well, maybe Dreamer isn’t going to No Mercy as Estrada introduces Big Daddy V as the last challenger for the Elimination Chase.

BIG DADDY V defeats TOMMY DREAMER

Well, duh. No surprise here, but it does make you wonder what WWE Creative is going to do here.

I still expect Punk to retain his title at No Mercy as this is just the beginning of the rivalry between these two, but they have find a way to save face with Big Daddy V after he doesn’t win the title this Sunday – however they do it. Otherwise, this feud will get very boring very quickly.

For me, at least.

Random, Meaningless Thoughts:

– Aren’t you surprised at how over Big Daddy V is even though he’s still just Viscera! And/or King Mable!

– Matt Striker is so damn good on the mic!

– Mike Knox is a good size – big and bulky, but not so steroidy like a lot of other big men.

– Is it just me, or is Tazz actually getting better behind the booth? I used to hate listening to him and now he’s tolerable.

– Kelly Kelly is so HOTT!

– Doesn’t Tommy Dreamer still look funny in those dang head bandanas?

– I miss Estrada saying UUUMAGA so much. I still do it myself the best I can, but it’s just not the same!

– Is it wrong that I can’t keep from starting at Big Daddy V’s massive boobs every time he’s in the ring?
