Backstage News: New TNA Knockouts, Mesias Gone, More

WrestleZone.com is reporting that Amazing Kong made her TNA debut at Tuesday’s iMPACT! taping in a match with Gail Kim. She dominated the match and Gail only got in a few moves against her. Kong won the match. With the exception of Ms. Brooks (who was involved in an important storyline earlier in the show) and Shelly “Ariel” Martinez (they’re saving her debut), all the other women scheduled for the Knockouts Gauntlet match at next month’s pay-per-view were at ringside including Angel Williams, Talia Madison and ODB. Both Williams and ODB made forgettable appearances for TNA in 2004. Talia Madison has appeared on several indy shows featuring TNA talent. Furthermore, the five debuting females are not under contract to TNA just yet; the girls who perform the best during next month’s pay-per-view gauntlet match will likely be offered deals.

After receiving a huge push at the iMPACT! tapings two weeks ago, Judas Mesias is out of action after taking a bad fall off a ladder at the Verano de Escandalo show in Mexico two Sundays ago. After climbing to the top of the ladder, he couldn’t seem to get good footing on it as he was wobbling around quite a bit, and then he just suddenly jumped from it. He missed landing on his opponent that was lying on a placed table outside the ring, and crashed to the floor. He was knocked out from the fall. In addition to that, he is also suffering from sciatica, which is unrelated to the fall. He was forced to take time off, which really messed up TNA’s plans since they taped two two-hour shows this week.

Junior Fatu appeared in the main event on both of the two-hour shows taped this week. It is unknown if he is under contract to TNA.

WrestleZone.com is reporting that a match between Ms. Brooks and Roxxi Laveaux was taped for the 10/13 TNA Bound For Glory special on Spike TV.

After not appearing on television for several months, Johnny “Havok” Devine worked two matches and appeared in another segment at this week’s iMPACT! tapings.

Unless he’s appearing in a backstage segment that didn’t play in front of the crowd, Tomko wasn’t at either iMPACT! taping this week according to the WrestleZone.com website.
