Authorities say Benoit killed his wife, Nancy, and 7-year-old Daniel over the weekend before taking his own life. Their bodies were found on Monday at their suburban Atlanta home. “We have no understanding why it happened. It’s going to take us a long time to come to terms with this, and we may never come to terms with it,” Michael Benoit of Ardrossan, Alberta, told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Nancy Benoit’s parents, Paul and Maureen Toffoloni, live in Daytona Beach, he said. The Carl J. Mowell and Sons Funeral Home in Fayette County expected the bodies to be released from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation medical examiner on Friday, said Bee Huddleston of the funeral home. Huddleston said the plan was for the mother and child to be cremated in Georgia, with a service in Florida “at a later date.”
