The Boston Herald has an article up looking at World Wrestling Entertainment’s plans to turn marketing power towards acquiring big name sponsors for its television, Internet and PPV properties. There are a number of reasons for WWE wanting to do this. One example is that with WWE’s current TV deals, the company is no longer sharing in the profits from the advertising revenues of Raw, Smackdown or ECW when in the past they sold the bulk of those commercials to in-house advertisers themselves. It is safe to say that WWE is seeing the big name sponsorships that the Ultimate Fighting Championship has associated themselves with through their Spike TV and PPV events over the last year along with other major professional sports entities doing the same as well.

Lee McCallum sent word that tonight’s three-hour edition of Monday Night Raw in the UK is only being scheduled for 2 hours and 15 minutes. However, WWE Heat is scheduled to be airing before Raw and it’s expected the first hour of Raw will air in that timeslot.
