TNA Announcer Quits The Company Last Week

Spanish announcer Moody Jack Melendez (Hector Melendez) quit TNA last week. Melendez asked TNA for a raise since he had been there for a few years, but they only offered him a $100 a week pay raise. He believed that increase to insulting so he quit. Melendez had a backup job in place as he’s going to help book Puerto Rico’s IWA promotion with Savio Vega.

Willie Urbina, who is the WWC announcer, has been brought in to take Melendez’s place in TNA. Also, there had been talk of bringing in Ray Gonzalez to take Konnan’s place at the Spanish announcer’s table so that Konnan could concentrate on managing LAX, but that hasn’t happened yet.

This move will probably end up costing TNA more because they’re going to have to fly Urbina in every few weeks from Puerto Rico whereas Melendez lived in nearby Nashville, the site of TNA’s headquarters where they post produce TV. Also, Melendez’s role wasn’t just announcing as he helped create some of the video packages. He usually worked overtime too. All in all, its going to cost TNA significantly more for less.
