ECW Notes, Early WM22 Buyrate, Vince-JR, Lots More

Harry Slash and the Slashtones, who created most of the original themes used in Extreme Championship Wrestling, will be playing Irving Plaza in New York City on 5/19 at a Joey Ramone Memorial Benefit. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the number floated around the cable industry is that Wrestlemania 22 did about 700,000 PPV buys. Assuming its the domestic number, it would beat out last year’s 650,000 buys for Wrestlemania 21. WWE projected this year’s Wrestlemania would draw 1,050,000 PPV buys. If the number includes international markets, it would be a major disappointment. No official numbers are known at this time, but we’ll keep you posted.

As noted earlier, WWE.com has confirmed that Jim Ross will be returning to the RAW broadcast team this Monday. Ross will call RAW for the foreseeable future. Vince McMahon had, more or less, been regretting pulling Ross from RAW since he made the move weeks back.
