Vengeance Results – 06/26/05

WWE Vengeance Opener:

Vengeance opened up with a video package looking at the WWE Championship Match, the Hell in a Cell Match between Batista and Triple H for the World Heavyweight Championship. The fireworks then went off in the arena for the start of WWE Vengeance as Jim Ross, Jerry Lawler and The Coach welcomed us to the show.

Intercontinental Championship Match

Shelton Benjamin vs. Carlito (c)

The music of Carlito hit in the arena as he made his way to the ring as the newly crowned Intercontinental Champion, and he will be going one on one with the former champion, and the man he beat this past Monday on RAW, Shelton Benjamin.

The start:

Benjamin and Carlito locked up, and Benjamin backed Carlito to the ropes and gave a clean break. They locked up again and Shelton hit a fireman’s carry for a one count, and then Carlito backed off to the ropes. Another tie up, and Shelton with a side headlock takedown but Carlito reversed into a headscissors, but Benjamin came back with a rollup for two.

Mid-match notes:

Carlito hit some right hands and a club to the back, and then sent Shelton to the corner, but Shelton came back with a clothesline and some chops in the corner. Carlito poked the eyes and then locked in a side headlock, and then scored with a shoulder block, but Shelton nipped up and hit a clothesline, and Carlito slid to the outside for a breather. Carlito grabbed his title and started to make his way up the aisle, but Benjamin came out after him and took him down with a clothesline and then a right hand, sending Carlito tumbling back towards the ring. Shelton threw Carlito back inside and hit a snap suplex for two.

Shelton went up top and came off with a flying clothesline and covered for a near fall. Carlito came back with a cheap shot, and then some forearm shots to the back. Carlito choked Benjamin in the ropes and then sent him hard to the outside before tossing him back in and covering for a near fall. Carlito hit a couple of body slams and again made the cover for another two. Carlito locked in a rear chin lock as the fans got behind Benjamin. Benjamin rolled Carlito up out of nowhere for a near fall, but Carlito quickly back on top with another chin lock. Very mixed reaction here with some behind Carlito and some behind Benjamin.

Benjamin fought out of the chin lock and scored with a reverse elbow and both men are down. Carlito up first with some right hands but Shelton came back with a Samoan Drop for a two. Carlito and Benjamin traded right hands with Benjamin coming out on top and then hitting a clothesline, followed by another. Benjamin hit a back body drop and then a modified backbreaker for a near fall. Benjamin went up top, but he is not fully with it, and gets caught by Carlito. Benjamin hit a huge hangman, dropping to the floor and snapping Carlito’s neck across the ropes. Benjamin came back in with a springboard bulldog and Carlito noly kicked out.

The Finish:

Benjamin hit some hard shots to the back of the head, but Carlito loosened the turnbuckle pad, and then hit a side slam for two. Benjamin came back with the Dragon Whip and then went for the Stinger Splash, but Carlito removed the pad, and Shelton went head first into it! Carlito then rolled Benjamin up and grabbed a handful of tights for good measure to retain his gold.

Backstage:

Triple H and Ric Flair are shown arriving backstage. They go into Triple H’s locker room ready for his shot at the World Championship in the Hell in a Cell tonight.

Victoria vs. Christy Hemme

Victoria made her way to the ring, with remixed entrance music and new attire for this one on one match with Christy Hemme.

The start:

Christy chased Victoria around ringside, but Victoria stomped her as she entered the ring. Christy scored with a boot to the head and then slammed her head into the canvas. Christy then sent Victoria into the turnbuckle repeatedly, but Victoria came back with a hotshot on the ropes. Victoria hit some right hands on his concussed head of Christy and then pulled her by the hair while Christy was on her back.

Mid-match notes:

Victoria choked Christy in the corner and then sent her to the ropes and picked her up with a double handed choke for two. Victoria covered again, but Christy again kicked out. Victoria locked in a rear naked choke as Christy screamed in pain. Christy fought to her feet and went for a rollup but Victoria held onto the ropes. Victoria went for the Widow’s Peak but Christy rolled through, and then Victoria blocked her sunset flip attempt. Victoria grabbed Christy by the hair in the corner and yanked her to the mat.

The Finish:

Victoria went for the moonsault, but Christy avoided it and then yanked Victoria around the ring by her hair. Fans were booing Christy at this point. Christy scored with a DDT for a near fall and then went for a sunset flip in the corner, but Victoria sat down on it and held the ropes for the victory.

Winner – Victoria

Backstage:

Todd Grisham is backstage with the WWE Champion John Cena. Cena said he just got here a few weeks ago, and is feeling like the new kid. He asked Todd if he was ever the new kid in school. Todd said he peed himself in biology class and everyone called him Todd Pissham. Cena said when you are the new kid, you are the target. He gets jumped in a tag match, and in his last match. He said Christian was the creepy kid, and Jericho was the rock star wannabe. He said schools out, and tonight is all business. He said Christian wants to take the title back to Canada for fame and fortune, and Jericho wants it to sell more records. Cena said he has fought hard to get the title, and he will fight hard to keep it. He said this is his first RAW PPV, and tonight you can all sit back and watch John Cena, the kid voted most likely to kick someone’s ass, cuz tonight the champ is here!

Kane vs. Edge

The music of Edge hit in the arena as he made his way to the ring with Lita for this one on one match with Kane.

The start:

Kane chased Edge around the outside of the ring and then Edge stomped him as he entered. Kane came back with right hands in the corner and then some mounted punches. Kane scored with a big uppercut to knock Edge down and then hit a back body drop. Kane choked Edge over the middle rope and hit some more right hands in the corner followed by a kick to the ribs as the fans chanted that they wanted Matt.

Mid-match notes:

Kane clotheslined Edge to the outside and went after Lita. She backed off, and then Edge came from behind but Kane was wise to it and knocked him down and tossed him back inside the ring. Kane scored with a kick to the head and choked Edge in the ropes some more. The fans chanted “She’s a crack whore!” at Lita as Kane choked Edge blatantly in the middle of the ring. Edge came back with an eye rake and then charged at him, but Kane sent him to the apron and then into the turnbuckle. Kane hit a right hand to knock Edge off the apron and followed him out.

Lita helped Edge on the outside, and Edge shoved Kane into the ring post and followed up with the spear. Edge rolled back inside and the referee began to count Kane out, but he made it back in at nine, but then Edge gave him a baseball slide knocking him right back out. Edge stomped on Kane in the ring and kicked him in the ribs and the back. Edge hit a flying shoulder in the corner on Kane and then choked him over the bottom rope. Edge hit some knees to the mid section and followed up with more right hands. Kane started to fire up and came back with some big right hands of his own.

Edge floated through a slam attempt and hit the Edge-o-Matic, but Kane sat up and then scored with an uppercut. Kane clotheslined Edge in the corner but then walked into an elbow. Edge dived off the ropes right into an uppercut from Kane, and then Edge was given Snake Eyes in the corner. Kane hit another huge clothesline for a near fall, and followed up with a side walk slam before heading up top and coming off with a flying clothesline, but Edge countered with a mid air dropkick.

Edge went for the Spear, but was met with a Big Boot. Kane signalled for the chokeslam, but Snitsky came down and got on the apron. Kane knocked him down and went for the chokeslam again, but Lita got into the ring with a chair. Kane caught her, and she tried to seduce him, but he grabbed her by the hair and tossed her down to the mat. Kane grabbed the chair and placed it around the neck of Lita and then went to go up top, but Snitsky is back inside with a Big Boot and Edge covered for a near fall.

The Finish:

Edge stomped Kane and then went for the Edgecution, but Kane threw him off. Snitsky then went up top and jumped off but Kane caught him by the throat. Edge went to nail Kane in the back with the briefcase, but Kane moved and Edge nailed Snitsky! Kane then scored with the chokeslam on Edge for the victory.

Winner – Kane

The Aftermath:

Lita backed up the ramp in fear as Kane laughed manically.

Backstage:

Shawn Michaels is backstage with Todd Grisham, and Grisham said Angle had guaranteed victory. Michaels said he wants Angle 100% confident going into tonight’s rematch. After WrestleMania, he wondered if he had a chance to even the score, but thanks to the draft everything is possible. Michaels guarantees that Vengeance will be his.

Shawn Michaels vs. Kurt Angle

The music of Kurt Angle hit in the arena as he made his way down to the ring for this WrestleMania rematch with Shawn Michaels!

The start:

Shawn Michaels and Kurt Angle locked things up and Angle backed Michaels to the corner and gave a clean break. They locked up again and Angle with a go behind takedown but Michaels got in the ropes and got another clean break. Another lock up and Michaels grabbed a side headlock and took Angle down to the mat. Angle backed Michaels into the corner, and we got yet another clean break.

Mid-match notes:

Angle grabbed a side headlock and Michaels whipped him off, but Angle came back with a shoulder block. Michaels hit a hip toss followed by an arm drag into an arm bar. Angle fought to his feet and took Michaels down with an arm bar of his own, and drove his knee into the ear of Michaels. Angle wrenched the arm hard, and Michaels was forced to take a breather on the outside. Michaels re-entered and hit some chops in the corner on Angle, and Angle rolled outside to regroup. Back in, and Angle with a single leg takedown and Michaels scooted outside.

Angle grabbed the leg of Michaels and pulled him to the middle of the ring. Michaels tried to kick him away, and Angle got a half Boston Crab locked in, but Michaels quickly made the ropes. Michaels came back with some hard chops in the corner and then hit a boot to the face followed by a sunset flip, but Angle rolled through and went for the Ankle Lock, but Michaels quickly escaped and clotheslined Angle to the outside of the ring. Michaels chopped Angle on the outside but Angle came back and went for the Angle Slam on the announce table, but Michaels blocked and came back with more chops, but Angle then hit a belly to back suplex sending Michaels into the announce table and it didn’t break!

Angle tossed Michaels back inside and covered but Michaels kicked out at two. Angle hit a stiff knee to the head and then a neck breaker for another two count before choking Michaels over the top rope. Angle stomped Michaels in the corner and then pulled him up and hit a nice uppercut and Michaels’ is bleeding underneath his eye. Angle hit some right hands, and Michaels came back with some of his own but Angle got a kick to the mid section and then powerbombed him into the turnbuckle for a near fall. Angle followed up with an elbow drop to the back before hitting a vertical suplex and floating over for two. Angle locked in a rear naked choke but Michaels elbowed out of it and then went to work with some right hands and chops, and then charged at Angle in the corner, but Angle moved and scored with a release German for another near fall.

Angle went for the Angle Slam, but Michaels countered into an arm drag, but Angle came back with a clothesline for another two count. Angle perched Michaels on the top rope and went for a belly to belly, but Michaels knocked him down. Michaels went for a double axe handle, but Angle caught him with a belly to belly for two. Angle locked in another rear naked choke in the middle of the ring but Michaels fought up and hit a back suplex and now both men are down for the count. Both men reached their feet at seven and traded right hands with Michaels coming out on top. Michaels hit some more chops and then a flying forearm to knock Angle down.

Michaels nipped up and hit some right hands and then an inverted atomic drop followed by a clothesline and a scoop slam. Michaels went up top and came off with the flying elbow drop and then started to tune up the band! Michaels went for it, but Angle exploded on him with a clothesline and covered but Michaels kicked out at two. Angle went for the Angle Slam, but Michaels reversed it into a swinging DDT and got two. Michaels went for a suplex, but Angle floated over and scored with a German, and held on and scored with the Angle Slam and hooked the leg but Michaels got his shoulder up.

Angle went for the Ankle Lock, but Michaels rolled him up for a near fall. Angle then locked it in, but Michaels kicked him off hard and he collided with the referee. Angle backdropped Michaels to the outside and Michaels looks to have hurt his knee. The timekeeper called for help and the trainer came out, but Angle shoved him away and tossed Michaels back inside the ring. Angle took down his straps and Michaels went for the Sweet Chin Music, but Angle ducked and locked in the Ankle Lock in the middle of the ring. Michaels writhed in pain and shoved Angle off, but he held onto the hold.

The Finish:

Michaels tried to make the ropes as the fans got behind the Heart Break Kid, but Angle pulled him back to the middle of the ring. Michaels screamed in pain but then kicked Angle off hard, and he landed shoulder first into the ring post! Michaels is still down in pain and Angle went for him, but he managed to hit Sweet Chin Music out of nowhere! Both men are down as the referee begins his count, and then Michaels finally draped an arm over but Angle kicked up at the last possible moment! Angle went out to the apron, and he can noly stand. He pulled himself up to the top rope and dived off, but Michaels hit Sweet Chin Music in mid air and then draped his arm over for the win!

Winner – Shawn Michaels

The Aftermath:

Michaels celebrated his win as the Coach said he has to leave as he has a big interview with Batista coming up. Angle was helped to the back and was given a round of applause from the Las Vegas crowd.

Backstage:

Coach is backstage with Batista, and said the odds were not in his favour to retain the World Title. Coach said Triple H had him beat at Backlash, and would have walked out champion if it was not for bad officiating. Batista called Coach an ass kissing suck up, and said he is not afraid of anything. He said tonight is for every time Hunter stabbed him in the back, or hit him with the sledgehammer. He said Triple H will have to kill him to take the title. He said they are going to Hell tonight, but he is the only one walking out. Triple H showed up and said nobody beats him at Hell in the Cell, and said he will be nobody after this is over. They then started to get into it, and the officials had to pull them apart.

In the arena:

Lilian Garcia was introduced to the ring and there is a couch in the ring. She said it has been a whirlwind couple of months for her, and it is all due to one man, Viscera! He then made his way down with gold chains around his waist and wearing a smoking jacket. Lilian said she wanted to bring him out here because he has made her feel things she has never felt before. She said at first, he scared her, but over time she showed her what a loving and sexy man he can be. She asked him to sit down, and said not ago he sang for her, and now she wants to return the favour. She then sang to him about her loving him and stuff. She said that last week on RAW she said he would hit the jackpot, and then got him to stand up. She then got down on one knee and asked him to marry her! He said he has to give it to her, that’s real heavy. He said she is asking for his hand in marriage? He said he would take it into consideration…and then the GODFATHER’S music hit! Godfather made his way down to the ring with a bunch of ho’s and Lilian did not look pleased! The Godfather and the ho’s got into the ring and said someone has to do something about this. He said Viscera used to be a pimp in training, and when they heard he was coming to Vegas tonight, these girls couldn’t wait to get a piece of him. He said you can imagine how surprised they are about this talk about him getting married? Godfather apologized to Lilian, and he said he knows about Viscera’s appetite for sex, and has one question. Does he truly want to walk down the aisle with one woman for the rest of his life? Or maybe he wants to take a ride of the HOOOO TRAIN! Viscera looked at all the ho’s in the ring and gave them all the once over, and said that there is only one thing he has to say. All aboard the HOOOO TRAIN! Viscera and the Godfather danced with the ho’s as Lilian cried in the ring.

WWE Championship Match

Triple Threat Match

Christian vs. Chris Jericho vs. John Cena (c)

The music of Chris Jericho hit in the arena as he made his way down to the ring for this Triple Threat Match against Christian and the WWE Champion, John Cena. Christian was accompanied by Tyson Tomko for the record.

The start:

All three men squared up to each other and then Cena and Jericho got face to face. Jericho slapped him and Cena took him down but Christian pulled him off and then stomped him. Jericho and Christian both stomped Cena in the corner and then Christian shoved Jericho off and choked Cena in the topes. Jericho then shoved Christian away and chopped Cena in the corner and then sent him hard to the opposite corner. Christian took over with chops on Cena and then Jericho nailed Christian with a clothesline.

Mid-match notes:

Jericho nailed a back elbow on Christian and then a pair of elbow drops. Tomko tripped Jericho and then pulled him out and dropped him over the barricade. Back inside and Cena took over on Christian and hit a hip toss takedown followed by stomps in the corner. Tomko then tripped Cena, and Hebner saw it and ejected him from ringside. Christian was not happy and then walked into Cena who caught him in the corner and went for the FU, but Christian held onto the ropes and Cena FU’ed him to the outside. Jericho is back in, and hits a reverse elbow on Cena and then a vertical suplex followed by a baseball slide dropkick.

Jericho chopped Cena in the ropes and worked him over in the corner. Jericho walked into a boot when charging in the corner and Cena took over with right hands to Jericho. Jericho came back with a bulldog and then went for the Lionsault but Cena moved and Jericho landed on his feet and hit a back elbow and then a baseball slide to send Cena to the outside. Jericho followed out and sent Cena into the barricade and then tossed the timekeeper on the floor and started to dismantle the announce table. Jericho went for a suplex through the table, but Cena blocked and scored with a DDT on the floor.

Christian is back up and sent Cena headfirst into the ring steps, and then sent him back inside and covered for two. Christian choked Cena in the middle of the ring, and then locked in a rear naked choke on the WWE Champion. Christian said Cena can’t see him, and then Cena came back with clotheslines and then a flying shoulder. Cena hit the side slam and then went for the Five Knuckle Shuffle, but Jericho tripped him and pulled him outside and sent him into the steps. Jericho went to get inside, but hit a baseball slide to knock him down and then tossed him inside the ring. Jericho came back and went for the Walls of Jericho, but Christian kicked him off into Cena who was getting back in the ring, and then Christian rolled Jericho up for a near fall.

Christian went up top but Jericho cut him off and then Cena got back in and hit a powerbomb on Jericho as Jericho hit the superplex on Christian! Cena crawled over to Jericho but he kicked out at two. Cena then made the cover on Christian, but he also kicked out. Cena hit some right hands on Jericho, and then a clothesline. Cena gave Christian a clothesline and then Jericho a scoop slam. Cena hit a drop toe hold on Christian, who landed on Jericho and they butted heads. Cena hit the Five Knuckle Shuffle on both men at the same time and then rolled Jericho up but Christian snuck behind Cena and rolled him up for two. Jericho then got a roll up for two, and then Christian and Cena hit a clothesline on Jericho, but they knocked each other down.

Jericho went up top but Cena crotched him, and then sent Christian into him and rolled him up for a near fall. Cena went for the FU but Christian gouged the eyes and hit the reverse DDT but Cena kicked out! Christian went outside and grabbed the WWE Title and then Tomko came in behind the referee’s back and hit a clothesline on Cena and then Christian covered for two! Cena came back and sent Christian over the top to the outside and now Jericho is back up and locked in the Walls of Jericho on Cena in the middle of the ring!

The Finish:

Christian got on the apron and Jericho dropkicked him back down and then locked the Walls back in on Cena! Christian then came in and rolled Jericho up for two and then went for the Unprettier. Jericho shoved Christian off, and Cena picked him up for the FU, and then knocked Jericho down with Christian’s legs and delivered the FU for the win!

Winner and still WWE Champion, John Cena

The Aftermath:

John Cena celebrated his big win in the crowd with the Chain Gang before making his way up the aisle, still WWE Champion.

World Heavyweight Title Match

Hell In A Cell

Triple H vs. Batista (c)

The music of Triple H hit in the arena as he made his way to the ring with Ric Flair for his shot at the World Heavyweight Championship inside of the demonic Hell in a Cell against Batista. The cell lowered and we are ready to get things underway.

The start:

Triple H kicked Batista in the gut and then hit some right hands in the corner. Batista came back with a big clothesline followed by a side walk slam. Triple H rolled to the outside and kicked Batista in the mid section. Batista came back and went to toss Triple H into the cell, but he blocked and got back in the ring. Batista scored with a shoulder block to knock Triple H down, and then clotheslined him in the corner, and then to the outside.

Mid-match notes:

Batista whipped Triple H into the cell, and then Triple H came back sending Batista shoulder first into the ring post. Triple H hung Batista over the top rope and then knocked him hard into the cell, and he is down and out on the outside. Triple H whipped him into the cell, and then again, and then knocked him down with a big clothesline on the outside. Triple H tossed Batista back inside the ring and then went under the ring looking for plunder, and he tossed a chain into the ring. Triple H wrapped the chain up and then whipped the back of Batista with it. Triple H then choked Batista with the chain and pulled it over the ropes, but Batista battled out with a left hand. Triple H quickly took control back and hung Batista in the ropes with the chain again.

Batista came back with a hotshot, and now Batista has the chain. He whipped Triple H across the back with it repeatedly and then went outside, and continued the whipping. Batista drove Triple H into the cell, and then the ring post, and then the cell again. Batista then sent Triple H face first into the cell and Triple H is busted open. Back in the ring and Batista hit some right hands but Triple H came back with the spinebuster. Triple H is a bloody mess as he rolls to the outside and looks under the ring again, and pulls out a steel chair wrapped in barbwire! Triple H slammed it into the back of Batista and Batista went down in pain, and his back has been punctured. Triple H hit Batista in the back with it again and then went to hit him in the head, but Batista came back with right hands, but then walked into a facebuster.

Batista exploded with a huge clothesline and then grabbed the barbwire chair! Batista nailed Triple H in the head with the chair, and then drove the barbwire into the Game’s forehead. Triple H rolled to the outside and Batista followed him out and grated Triple H’s forehead against the cell. Batista then threw Triple H into the cell like a human javelin and then tossed him back into the ring. Batista gave Triple H some shoulder thrusts in the corner and then went for a splash, but Triple H moved and Batista hit the ring post shoulder first. Triple H is covered in blood as he grabs the barbwire chair and lays it down and goes for the Pedigree onto it but Batista backdropped out of it. They traded right hands and Batista then picked Triple H up and slammed him into the barbwire chair and covered but Triple H kicked up!

Batista grabbed the chain and wrapped it around his right hand but then Triple H hit the DDT into the barbwire chair! Batista rolled to the outside, and Triple H can noly stand. Triple H rolled outside after Batista and Batista is now a bloody mess. Triple H threw Batista head first into the cell and then grated his forehead against the mesh. Triple H tossed Batista back inside and Triple H went looking under the ring again and pulled out the sledgehammer! Triple H went to nail Batista, but Batista kicked him in the gut and then they traded right hands. Batista went for the Batista Bomb, but Triple H backdropped out of it and then grabbed the sledgehammer again. Triple H nailed Batista right in the head with the sledgehammer and draped an arm over him but Batista kicked out!

Triple H again grabbed the sledgehammer and went to nail Batista with it again, but Batista hit a low blow. Batista now has control of the sledgehammer and he stared at it and went to swing at Triple H, but Triple H had wrapped the chain around his hand and nailed Batista with it hard, but Batista kicked up at two and a half. Triple H again wrapped the chain around his fist and then went to the middle rope and jumped off but Batista got the sledgehammer up and Triple H’s throat went right into it, and blood started to come from Triple H’s mouth before he collapsed. Batista hit some big right hands on the Game, repeatedly, and then sent him hard to the buckle sending Triple H up and over to the outside.

Batista whipped Triple H hard into the ring steps and then picked the steps up and ran Triple H down with them! Batista picked up the steps again and slid them into the ring and then tossed Triple H in. Batista set the steps up in the corner and threw Triple H into them head first repeatedly. Batista then whipped Triple H hard into the ring steps with velocity and then signalled for the Batista Bomb. Batista went for it, but Triple H hit a low blow and then hit the Pedigree in the middle of the ring. Triple H covered and hooked the leg but Batista kicked out of it!

The Finish:

Triple H laid the steps down in the middle of the ring and then dragged Batista on top of them and went for the Pedigree on the steps! Batista countered and then hit a spinebuster onto the steps! Batista staggered over to Triple H and went for the Batista Bomb, but Triple H picked up the sledgehammer and went to nail Batista in the head with it, but Batista drove him down to the canvas before he could do it, and then covered to retain his World Heavyweight Title!
