WWE Cancels Show, SmackDown Update, Christian/Victoria

The WWE house show scheduled on June 19 in Yuma, Arizona has been cancelled for the second time. The venue in Yuma, the Desert Sun Stadium, announced the event at the beginning of the year, then announced the cancellation in April. After it was put back on a few weeks later they announced the cancellation notice on their website. The event was announced by WWE last week, then removed the information about the show from its live events schedule at WWE.com yesterday and the Desert Sun Stadium posted the following statement on there website, “WWE told us that due to scheduling conflict the June 19 WWE event at Desert Sun Stadium is cancelled. They asked to pass along their apologies to the Yuma wrestling fans and hope to come to Yuma next spring.”

WWE SmackDown was preempted on UPN Channel 9 in NYC/NJ area for a Yankees baseball game. It will be shown on Saturday.

Thursday’s WWE SmackDown! scored a Smackdown drew a 3.4 Fast National rating last night, finishing well ahead of Fox’s 2.5 rating and The WB’s 1.6 rating. It still was well behind ABC (4.2), NBC (4.4), and CBS (9.0).

According to TSN.ca/wrestling, Christian and Victoria were two of many celebrities that accompanied over 270 disadvantage children in a 21 hour roundtrip from Toronto to Walt Disney World in Orlando. The trip is called “Dreams Take Flight,” and is basically a day trip where the kids take private jets and have a party with the celebrities. In previous years, WWE stars such as Chris Benoit, Edge, Trish and Val Venis have all done the trip. The article ended with Christian in character saying, “I formed friendships with all the kids,” he said with his trademark smirk. “Actually, next year I think they may call it ‘Peeps Take Flight.”
