IPW:UK Injury Report, May 22nd Show Announced

PRESS RELEASE

FOR IMMEDIATE DISTRIBUTION

  • IPW:UK Best of British 2 Announced

» The next show in the IPW:UK calendar will be the second stage in determining our first ever IPW:UK champion! The first stage took place in January 2005 when Aviv Maayan won the first ever Best of British match, for the high flyers of the isles – now it’s time for the Heavyweights on Sunday May 22nd, 2005, from the Orpington Halls, Orpington, Kent.

After his performance last night at Return of the Dragon, Martin Stone (no doubt flanked by Team Charming members ‘Charming’ Don Charles and ‘Sadistic’ Jack Storm) is the first name in the match, having taken Samoa Joe, and man who held the RoH title for well over a year, to a 20-minute time limit draw.

More top names will be included as the weeks go by so stay right here at ipwuk.com for more info!

  • Return of the Dragon Injury Update

» Spud suffered a minor concussion in his brutal match-up with Samoa Joe. After being checked out and looked over for several minutes, Spud himself made the decision to continue in the round robin, showing what true fighting spirit the young grappler possesses. » ‘Charming’ Don Charles suffered severe lacerations to the face area after taking a boot scrape from Samoa Joe. Early reports suggest that pending approval, Charles may have to wear a protector across one of his cheekbones when acting in his managerial role at future events in order to protect from further tissue damage. » Aviv Maayan and El Generico are both recovering today with major bumps and bruises from their Make or Break Tornado Tag Match against Super Dragon & Stevie Douglas. Super Dragon came into the match with a damaged tailbone, but still worked at 100%.

  • Who Is Jake?

» Last night’s show saw the debut of a man from Pennsylvania, USA, simply going by the name of “Jake”. A lot of questions were raised about the mysterious nature of his debut and to be honest, not much is known about him.

Arriving at the venue just as we hit the interval with his bags and story, it turned out Jake had been trained by former ECW star Julio Dinero in the USA and after careful consideration, decided that the best way to make it in the business & continue to learn his craft was to move to the UK and try and make his name here.

After a search on the internet he found the IPW:UK website. With a ‘First Chance’ Four Way announced, and one spot remaining, Jake saw this as his chance – but was so short of cash, he even hitch-hiked his way to the show.

After an impressive debut performance it took two Running Powerslam’s by eventual victor Andy Boy Simmonz to down the gutsy American. After the show Simmonz extended the hand of respect to Jake, offering him a ride back and a place to stay. It looks like we may be seeing a small change of heart by Andy “Boy” Simmonz and a new star in Jake!
