ESPN Commentator Typically Hates Wrestling; Why Not Now?

I’m a fan of ESPN’s Colin Cowherd and DVR his show daily, so when I read somewhere that he was talking about the WWE (again) on today’s show, I went and watched it.  He was running clips of CM Punk’s "shoot" promo from last week’s edition of WWE Raw and praised it for being one of the best "rants" of all time in real sports and wrestling.

A little background on Colin:  he has always trashed wrestling when it’s brought up in the past.  He likes to bring it up when wrestlers die most of the time and gives the product or the fans that watch it zero credit.  I believe it was when Eddie Guerrero died that Colin went on one of his typical wrestling rants and being a guy that knows how to push buttons, he sparked actual hatred from wrestling fans as they started emailing and calling into the show for days after his initial discussion about it.  He eventually had to bring it up "again" on a future broadcast just so he could tell the fans to stop emailing and calling into show with insults and hate letters.

On today’s show, he praised CM Punk for the comments he made during his promo last week on Raw and said it was "awesome".  He sarcastically said that if he would have known wrestling was this great, he would have been a fan for the past decade.  He still called wrestling fans "booger eaters" that don’t have girlfriends, but finally gave a little credit to the entertainment value of the product.  At least, he did for Punk’s promo and for the first time in ages (if ever), showed wrestling in somewhat of a positive light.
