Yesterday, we reported that WWE legend Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Jerry Bruckheimer are set to team up on a new NBC pilot which will be centered around pro wrestling in the 1980's. CraveOnline.com has provided more details behind the project, and the following is an excerpt from its report:
"According to The Hollywood Reporter, Johnson and Jerry Bruckheimer are producing a new drama pilot for NBC that takes follows wrestlers during the '80s. Brent Fletcher ("Spartacus: Blood and Sand") and Seamus Kevin Fahey ("The Forgotten") are writing the pilot script and will serve as co-executive producers alongside Johnson, Bruckheimer, Jonathan Littman, and KristieAnne Reed ("Dark Blue").
It's not clear from the announcement if the currently untitled wrestling drama will use actors to portray the wrestlers of that era or if the show will simply use close approximations of their personas within the world of the show. It's also not clear if Johnson will appear as an actor within the pilot, despite his obvious familiarity with the subject matter."
