Thanks to Dean Thornton for sending this in:
On our way to the arena, me and my friend were talking about how the crowd will most likely be kids and women dressed in John Cena t-shirts... However, it was good to see far more CM Punk t-shirts on kids then I was expecting.
Santino Marella bt David Otunga
This was a short comedy match really with Santino winning with the Cobra.
Mason Ryan bt Curt Hawkins
Good pop for Ryan. Ryan won with The Full Nelson Slam... or whatever it's called.
Alex Riley bt Michael McGillicutty
A funny note was Riley was sporting split tights so a part of his ass was on show for the entire match, obviously forgot to bring a spare pair! I heard one man shout 'put it away! there is bairns here!'... Bairns meaning kids in the Geordie language. I used this as a chance to dash to the toilet to be honest! Got back to see Riley pin for the win.
Triple threat match for the U.S Championship
Dolph Ziggler v Drew McIntyre v John Morrison
Dolph came out first to a mixed reaction and got on the mic to say how he was the only true superstar in the WWE. Lot's of women were screaming for him?!?! Great pop for Mcintyre and Morrison. McIntyre acted as a face/tweener as he was so close to his homeland of Scotland.
This was probably the match of the night with initially lot's of back and forth between the three, McIntyre was barely in the match as he was continously thrown out of the ring and when he tried to get back in he was kicked out again, funny to watch. Ziggler won with a superkick to the chin on Morrison. Ziggler tried to beatdown on Morrison after the match but Morrison recovered to hit Starship Pain, pose and then leave. Ziggler left a lasting impression on me, what a fantastic wrestler.
The interval was next so I went for a look at the merch stands... £15 for a programme! No chance. The prices were ridiculous.
Diva's Championship: Beth Phoenix bt Eve Torres
Eve hit a few good moves on Beth including a moonsault but Beth recovered to hit the Glam Slam and get the 1,2,3. Beth continued to attack Eve after the match and Kelly Kelly made the save with her finisher on beth then hugged Eve and then posed for the fans.
Next the part we had been waiting for, Justin Roberts (who had his name chanted ringside all night!) announced the next match would be a six man tag match with a special guest referee... and out came Mick Foley! Massive pop.
Mick talked about his comedy show this Saturday in Newcastle but was interupted by The Miz and R Truth who themselves got a mixed reaction. Miz got on the mic and told Foley that's where he should stay because that's all he is... Comedy. Miz then introduced their tag team partner and I was shocked when it was Kevin Nash! Nash got in the face of Foley. He is huge!
Out next was Zack Ryder to an excellent pop, Kofi and then John Cena to a chorus of boo's and squeeky cheers from kids and women. It was basically what he gets every week on your side of the pond. All three face's threw their top's into the crowd and I was an inch away from catching Ryders... Gutted!
John Cena, Zack Ryder and Kofi Kingston bt The Miz, R Truth and Kevin Nash
Ryder started the match with loads of "Woo Woo Woo's" from the crowd, he tagged in Kofi who then spent a lot of time in the ring getting his ass handed to him from all three. Finally tagged in Cena and a battle started everyone hitting the ring. Kofi hit Nash with Trouble in Paradise, Cena AA'd The Miz and got the pin. The three posed for the crowd and then left. Massive Foley chants throughout the match.
Next was Alberto Del Rio v CM Punk for the WWE Championship
This was a great match with Del Rio and Ricardo interacting with the crowd a lot in an arrogant fashion, very funny stuff. CM Punk got a massive pop! The match started and Del Rio refused to get involved at first, repeatedly leaving the ring. He looked like he was trying to leave for good so Punk chased him and dragged him back into the ring. Good match, slow at times but came to an end when Ricardo got involved but Punk got him in a headlock then pushed him in the back before pulling his pants down to expose his undercrackers! Always hilarious!
Del Rio then tried to hit Punk but hit Ricardo instead then Miz and Truth and Ziggler ran in to beat down Punk. Then the inevitable save from Cena, Ryder, Eve and Foley. They cleared the ring apart from Ziggler who took an AA from Cena, then the Rough Ryder, then a GTS and then Eve hit a very good moonsault from the top rope. Mick then got Socko out and then threw Ziggler out of the ring.
Cena then got on the mic and said how he wasn't a Hollywood star but a wrestler and admitted that although he isn't the best in the world he is doing what he loves, he mentioned Survivor Series but when he got chants of "Rocky, Rocky" he blew off and said how he, himself turns up 365 days a year but The Rock only shows up three times a year. He properly ripped on The Great One!!
All in all a great show that looked like it had sold out and it was definately worth paying the extra to get ringside seats.
