TNA “Genesis” PPV Results – January 8, 2012

Gunner (with Ric Flair) vs. Rob Van Dam

Gunner almost immediately pulls the padding at ringside, continuing to use the concrete floor as he’s been doing lately. Later on, RVD hits a cross-body block off the top rope for a nearfall. RVD hits Rolling Thunder for another nearfall. RVD tries to hit a big dive spot onto the floor on Gunner, but Flair pulls him out of the way, causing RVD to land where there was no padding. Flair and the ref start arguing. While that is going on, Gunner hits RVD with a DDT on the concrete portion of the floor. Gunner rolls RVD back into the ring and pins him for the 1-2-3. The ref throws up the X-symbol and trainers come out to help RVD to sell an injury angle seemingly.

Winner: Gunner

Backstage: Jeremy Borash Interviews Jeff Hardy

Backstage, Jeremy Borash starts off by promising to give an update on RVD’s condition throughout the rest of tonight’s PPV. He says they’ll also have updates on the official TNA website. Borash then interviews Jeff Hardy. Hardy is wearing whacko face-paint. Hardy tells Borash he has a World Title to win.

TNA Knockouts Title: Gail Kim (with Madison Rayne) vs. Mickie James

The announcers point out a shark cage at ringside and assume that it’s part of Velvet Sky’s aforementioned plan. Mickie comes out dressed like The Farmer’s Daughter from GLOW. Velvet Sky comes out and throws Madison inside the cage, which has pink and white bars. The cage is then raised into the air. Velvet remains at ringside. Mickie controls most of the offense in the match for the first few minutes. She hits a Thesz Press off the top rope. Madison throws a pair of brass knuckles to the floor. The ref immediately notices them and grabs them himself. Madison throws another pair and this time Mickie ends up with them. Mickie hits Gail with tbe brass knux just as the ref turned to see it. She gets DQ’d. That’s how the match ends.
