Thursday February 2, 2012

Township Auditorium, Columbia, South Carolina

-ODB & Eric Young defeated Television Champion Robbie E & Rob Terry in 7:48 when ODB pinned Terry; X Division Champion Austin Aries pinned Zima Ion in 7:33 to retain the title in a triple threat match also involving Jesse Sorensen; Knockouts Champion Gail Kim pinned Velvet Sky in 4:25 to retain the title; The Phenomenal A.J. Styles pinned Kazarian in 11:08; Gunner managed by Nature Boy Ric Flair pinned Garrett Bischoff in 9:57; Cowboy James Storm & The Charismatic Enigma Jeff Hardy defeated Heavyweight Champion Bobby Roode & Kurt Angle in 13:44 when Hardy pinned Roode

Notes: Jeremy Borash handled the ring announcing and Earl & Brian Hebner were the referees for the night. Originally it was advertised as Cowboy James Storm facing Kurt Angle and Heavyweight Champion Bobby Roode facing Jeff Hardy for the title. Not sure why they opted for the tag team match instead. Food Network Chef Robert Irvine was seated at ringside for the first half of the show supporting Gail Kim.

Don West was shilling merchandise all night, with the specials including a $30 brown bag special that had a t-shirt, 4 Impact Wrestling DVDs (Final Resolution 2008, Global Impact Japan, Hard Justice 2007, and Best of Bloddiest Brawls: Scars & Stitches being the common dvds given out), a legends wrestling figure (among the figures to be given-Sting, Terry Taylor, Kevin Nash, & Hulk Hogan that I saw), and a program. The programs alone were $20, so the brown bag was the way to go. An action figure two-pack of A.J. Styles & Jeff Hardy was sold for I believe $20 with the chance to meet Styles & Hardy and have them sign it being the bonus. There was also a $50 package that allowed backstage access to the wrestlers as well. I’ll give Don West credit, he doesn’t stop shilling at any point during the warm up to the show.

Fans that attended the 2pm-4pm autograph signing with James Storm & Velvet Sky at a local Direct Auto Insurance store had the opportunity to earn a free ticket voucher to that night’s show.

Velvet Sky was signing autographs and selling 8×10’s before the show started. Austin Aries signed autographs during intermission with 8×10’s going for $10. Earl Hebner was selling “Damn Right I Did It” referee shirts for $10 and both he and Brian Hebner were signing them.

After the show, Jeff Hardy & James Storm stayed in the ring for a $20 photo opportunity. In the lobby, Earl Hebner was signing autographs. While outside waiting to say hello to Gunner, Kurt Angle was signing a few autographs on his way to his car.

Total Time of the matches: 54:37
