WWE Smackdown Results (7/27) – IC Title Rematch, Sheamus/Rhodes, Fatal 4 Way Determines New #1 Contender

Bill Pritchard

Daniel Bryan is shown sitting in his locker room when Sheamus walks in and tells him to relax because he knows he has a match. Sheamus says he had a rough night on Monday, but Bryan says he’s not done with AJ and The Rock is gone for six months. He says no one cares about Charlie Sheen either, then Sheamus says he has a gift for him that was supposed to be for his wedding night. Bryan opens it as Sheamus  walks away, then he flips out and throws it on the ground when he sees it’s a book called “How to Last More Than 18 Seconds”, with a picture from their Wrestlemania match on the front.

Sheamus vs Cody Rhodes

Cody puts Sheamus in a waistlock but Sheamus elbows him in the head, then Cody rolls outside and argues with the ref. He tells him to watch the cheapshots as he gets back in, then Sheamus throws him into the ropes and hits a shoulder tackle for a near fall. Cody puts him in an armbar and snaps him arm down, then Sheamus whips him across the ring and connects with a backbreaker. Cody gets up and kicks him in the stomach, then he rolls outside and elbows Sheamus in the head to get away. Sheamus chases him around the ring and ties him up in the ropes, then he clubs him in the chest a bunch of times and tries to suplex him outside.

Cody floats over and throws him into the ringpost, then Cody tells the ref to start counting him out as he watches from the ring. Dolph Ziggler comes out with Vickie Guerrero and he teases a cash-in as we go to a break, then he is shown waiting at ringside when we return. Cody hits a running knee strike then stomps Sheamus in the corner, then he goes outside and repeatedly punches him on the apron. He goes back inside and puts Sheamus in a full nelson lock, but Sheamus powers himself out of the hold and takes Cody down with a hip toss. Sheamus backdrops Cody and hits a few running forearm shots, then Cody goes after his legs but Sheamus comes back with a kneelift. (Cont'd…)
