PWInsider.com reports John Laurinaitis wasn't at this weeks WWE tapings because he is recovering from a recent shoulder surgery he had.
As previously reported, Laurinaitis has lost nearly all of his power as an executive. He's now considered the head of the producers, formely known as agents, who help the talent put together their matches and promos.
Its still expected that Laurinaitis will return to television as on-air character.
