TNA Genesis PPV Results (1/13) – Did Jeff Hardy Beat the Odds to Retain the World Title?

(5) Devon vs. Joseph Park

The Impact Zone has a couple Devon “marks” the crowd as per usual, but the majority of them are yelling “Devon sucks”. They’re incredibly behind Park to start out this match, with a big “let’s go Joseph” chant. The two lock up in the middle of the ring, with Devon getting the easy advantage with a rear chinlock. He lets him go, and continues verbally abusing him, calling him a “nobody”. They lock up again, and yet again Devon locks him in a hold, but lets him go to slap the hell out of the back of his head. Devon is just adding insult to injury now.

Devon gets down on the mat and tells Park to try locking up with him ametuer style. From out of nowhere, Park gets a great ameteur combo, pissing off Devon as he bails to the outside to figure out what just happened. He rolls back into the ring and punches Park right in the gut. After a few kicks, Devon gets cocky again. Park uses the opening to get a few arm drags in, which just further upsets the TV champion. They brawl to the outside and Devon sends his opponent’s face off the steel steps.

Back into the ring, and Devon throws Park into the corner and continues beating on him with big right hands. Park tries to “run the ropes” – pretty much just him stomping around the ring awkwardly – but runs into a flying shoulder tackle from Devon. The champ goes up to the top rope and comes down for a diving headbutt, but Park rolls out of the way. Park mounts his opponent and fires away with some pretty awful looking rights and lefts. It really is hilarious how this guy can pretend to be an awful wrestler. Classic.

Park starts counting the turnbuckles, and seems to question whether he can do something with them. He slowly climbs to the second one as Taz mentions he’s having a second match with the ropes right now. Ha! Park gets him with a second rope splash, but can’t get the pin. Devon exposes a turnbuckle, and sends Park face first into it. As he slowly gets up, it looks like there’s some blood barely visible on his nose. He hits Devon with the Black Hole Slam, but snaps back to reality and gets rolled up by Devon for the three-count.

Winner: Devon

After the match, Devon gets back in the ring and attacks Park from behind. He poses with the TV title and we cut to JB in the back.
