Update: Rumored City Ruled Out as Possible WrestleMania 32 Host

According to WindsorStar.com, the joint venture between the city of Windsor, Ontario and Detroit, Michigan, to bring WrestleMania 32 to Detroit, is over, as Detroit has been ruled out as a possible host city for the WWE event in 2016.

The blog quotes Detroit Sports Commissioner Dave Beachnau as saying, "We were notified back in June…We haven’t heard from them [WWE] since…If we are back on that list, they haven’t told me."

Editor's Note: I have read reports elsewhere questioning why Detroit, a city that has declared bankruptcy, would spend money bringing WrestleMania 32 to the city, and those reports have misinterpreted an original blog posted by Alan Halberstadt, Windsor City's Ward 4 Councillor.

The City of Windsor approved $60,000 in tax payer money to help bring the PPV to Detroit, however this was money spent by the City of Windsor, Ontario, NOT Detroit, MI. So far, there has been no public mention of the city of Detroit spending any money on an attempt to bring the event to Michigan, and the WindsorStar.com report quotes Detroit Sports Commissioner Beachnau as saying rumors of Detroit being a top candidate to host WrestleMania 32 have been just that; rumors.
