WWE Smackdown Results (9/6) – HHH Holds ‘Town Meeting’, RVD vs Orton, Bryan Picks His Opponent

Rob Van Dam (w/ Ricardo Rodriguez) vs Randy Orton

RVD hits a quick legdrop for a near fall, then he knocks Orton down and hits a legdrop on the apron before following with a top rope thrust kick. He goes for Rolling Thunder but Orton counters with a spinning powerslam, then he stomps RVD in the corner and whips him across the ring. RVD counters with a step over kick for two, then he slams him in the corner but Orton knees him back and punches him in the head a few times. Orton chokes him under the ropes and whips him in the corner, then RVD kicks him in the head and hits a split-legged moonsault for a near fall. Orton rolls outside to regain his composure and RVD plays to the crowd, then he goes after Orton but Orton kicks him and sets up a suplex.

RVD blocks it and suplexes Orton on the barricade, then he goes for a legdrop from the apron but Orton moves and RVD crashes into the barricade. Orton throws him in the ring and stomps him, then he kicks him in the head and throws him outside as we go to a commercial break. We get back to see RVD hit a standing moonsault for two, then he whips Orton and goes for a springboard move but Orton sweeps his legs and applies a headlock. Orton hits a backbreaker for two, then he hits a hanging DDT and taunts the crowd before setting up for a RKO, but RVD counters with a legscissors takedown. RVD hits a thrust kick and Rolling Thunder, then he goes for a Five Star Frog Splash but Orton rolls away.

Ricardo checks on RVD on the floor but Orton chases him away, then Orton rolls him inside but RVD kicks Orton as Alberto Del Rio (at ringside) attacks Ricardo from behind. RVD sees it and takes Alberto out with a somersault dive over the ropes, then Orton attacks him and hits a hanging DDT off the apron. The ref starts a count but Orton throws him back in the ring, then he picks RVD up and hits a RKO for the win. Alberto gets in the ring after the match and punches RVD in the head a few times, then he puts him in the Cross Armbreaker and taunts the fans and holds up his championship.
