Lawler Says Ziggler Spot Was Partially to Blame for Heart Attack

During Part 1 of his interview on "The Steve Austin Show," Jerry Lawler said that his heart attack on Raw last year was partly due to a spot in the tag team match he worked earlier in the show.

Prior to the heart attack, Lawler teamed with Randy Orton to face Dolph Ziggler and CM Punk, and during the match there was a spot where Ziggler landed 10 straight elbows to Lawler's chest, and Lawler said in the interview that he hit them with all his body weight. He added:

"Honestly, and I talked to my cardiologist about it, and he said, 'absolutely, the trauma to my chest from those elbows could have been hard enough to knock your heart out of rhythm.' It would start slowly, and then get more and more and more out of rhythm until it just seized up."
