The Wrestling Observer recently revealed details behind a WWE memo that was sent out internally a few years back. While the memo might be old in age, it does include things that seem to still be relevant today. Below are some of the highlights:
– The phrases "five-star match" and "match of the year" are not to be used by commentators.
– Vince told announcers not to read dirt sheets any longer as he felt it influenced their performances on the air.
– Kevin Dunn told announcers not to use the phrase "title changes hands".
– Vince doesn't want WrestleMania to be called the "Granddaddy of them all" any longer, as he thinks it makes the event feel dated.
Additionally, Stephanie McMahon told announcers to stop saying simply that referees didn't see something a heel does behind their back during a match. She prefers them to say something along the lines of "the referee's vision was blocked/impaired".
