Main Event kicks off with Curtis Axel in a pre-recorded video package, saying that when he was a kid Andre the Giant held him in the palm of his hand. He promises victory at WrestleMania in the memorial battle royal.

Los Matadores vs. Ryback & Curtis Axel

Ryback tries to bully Fernando early on, but gets caught in a quick roll-up for a close count. Axel tags in and pounds away with right hands in the corner, followed by a big knife-edge chop. Fernando counters off an Irish Whip, but gets caught with a clothesline from behind.

Ryback tags in and beats down on Fernando, mocking the other Matadores. The referee breaks up a blatant choke in the ropes, and Ryback responds with a massive shoulder block. He locks in a side headlock and the fans actually get behind the babyfaces – Fernando fights back and kicks the big man in the head, but Ryback takes Diego off the apron with a right hand to stop the hot tag.

In comes Curtis Axel again, who lands a mean running knee strike for a two-count. The heels tag in and out frequently, keeping Fernando more or less dead in the water. A couple fans try and start an "ole" chant, but it doesn't catch on. Ryback comes up empty on a running splash, but finally Diego makes a hot tag for his team. Running dropkicks to everyone followed by a springboard crossbody to Axel. A headscissors takedown leads to a top rope senton splash, but Ryback breaks up the pin.

Ryback spills to the outside accidentally when he tries to go after Fernando. El Torito gets on the apron and Axel kicks him to the floor, but Diego takes advantage of the distraction from the little guy and picks up the pinfall.

Winners: Los Matadores

Mike's Thoughts: That was a pretty fun way to kick off Main Event. Surprised to see Fernando get such a great show of support for that rest hold – probably not a sign of their popularity, but a combination of hate for Rybaxel, and good slow-paced booking.
