As we noted last week, WWE revealed, the day after WrestleMania XXX, that the WWE Network has taken in 667,287 subscribers since its launch in February.
A week before the announcement was made, it was revealed that the investment community would be satisfied with 1 million Network subscribers, but were predicting more. Analysts felt anything less than 850,000 subscribers would not be a great initial sign, but it would definitely be a workable number.
The investment community is of course expecting more growth from the Network over the course of the next several years, with an estimated three to four times the initial number of subscribers, but anything less than 650,000 initial subscribers was being deemed not good.
So overall, while the 667,287 Network subscriber figure was not considered a failure, both WWE and Wall Street considered it to be a major disappointment.
