We noted last week during our coverage of Triple H's NXT Takeover conference call, that Shawn Merriman has been in talks with WWE, and the company does indeed want to work with Merriman, but it's up to him as to what he wants to do.
"Shawne has done some analyst work for us, done some stuff for the [WWE] Network. We are having conversations with Shawne, and it's really going to come down to time and what he wants to do. Shawne expressed to me he had two dreams growing up. One was to be an NFL superstar, and he did that, and the other was to be a WWE superstar. He's done one, and now he's heavily contemplating the other. We're in discussions. So we'll see what happens, see where it goes. He's a great guy, an amazing athlete, very smart, and we'd love to have him."
Backstage News on Stephanie's Raw Title Announcement
According to PWInsider.com, WWE reportedly received a negative Daniel Bryan update over the weekend and are now uncertain whether or not he will be medically cleared to return to the ring at Money in the Bank. WWE had previously been working under the impression that Bryan would be cleared in time for the PPV, which is why they have not stripped him of the WWE World Title.
Because Bryan's PPV status is now up in the air, Stephanie McMahon made the announcement on Raw last night so WWE has a plan B in case Bryan cannot compete at Money in the Bank.
