Steve Austin Speaks on WrestleMania XXX Idea He Pitched to Vince, CM Punk Leaving the WWE, Working Another Match & More

steve austinWWE Hall of Famer "Stone Cold" Steve Austin was a recent guest on Ring Rust Radio. Austin talked about the original plan for WrestleMania XXX with him , The Rock and Hulk Hogan, plus what he originally pitched to Vince McMahon regarding the biggest PPV of all time. He also mentioned CM Punk leaving the WWE the way he did, and who he'd like to have on The Steve Austin Show in the future – Undertaker, Hulk Hogan and Kevin Von Erich were all mentioned.

When asked if he would consider a return to the ring (a question he's been asked a hundred times), Austin was honest that he'd entertain the idea, if it were "a million-dollar question".

I’d consider anything if the perfect situation or opportunity arose and it would be more than a million-dollar question. I don’t want to sit here and promote a match, sell a match or talk about making a comeback. The dirt sheets, or whatever you call them - I talk to Dave Meltzer and Wade Keller all the time and they’re nice guys and I would consider them friends. I see Dave at almost every MMA fight, but I don’t want to stir any pots or hint or tease anything.

Austin also said he pitched an idea to Vince McMahon for Mania 30 that was immediately shut down:

I have a lot of respect for Hulk Hogan. The Rock is a friend of mine and I have a ton of respect for him, and when you get three cats like us in the ring, it was truly a good time, and I think everyone there enjoyed it. I actually pitched to Vince in the back that I wanted to sing "Jambalaya." It’s an old Hank Williams song and he shot that down. He didn’t think it would get over and I think there are some copyright issues or whatever, but could you imagine 70 to 80 thousand people singing "Jambalaya"? it would’ve been badass.

But what you should have heard was me singing "Jambalaya" to Vince in the dressing room with Triple H pacing back and forth getting ready for his match. It was pretty damn funny.
