According to The Figure Four Weekly Newsletter, Pat Patterson coming out of the closet on the season one finale of WWE Legends House was done by design.
The show was actually shot in 2012, prior to the launch of the WWE Network, and WWE initially wanted to pitch the show to a network like Syfy or E!. The feeling was that if a bigger network were to pick up the show, then Patterson's coming out at the end of the season would draw a lot of mainstream media attention, akin to Darren Young's coming out.
Patterson's coming out did draw some mainstream attention, with TMZ picking it up and Patterson's name trending on Twitter, however it did not receive nearly the amount of attention that Darren Young did.
