According to a new Wrestling Observer report, it is believed by most that country music star Toby Keith has no involvement in Jeff Jarrett's new Global Force Wrestling promotion, not even in a funding capacity.
At one point Keith was expected to be the primary GFW backer, after negotiations fell through to purchase TNA, but for whatever reason Keith ended up not involving himself in GFW, and Jarrett's current backer is a connection he made through Hermie Sadler.
As for the GFW promotion itself, outside of partnerships being made with AAA and New Japan, and talent scouting taking place around the country, little is known about the new promotion.
Eyewitness TNA NYC Attendance Note
Earlier today, PWInsider.com reported last night's Impact Wrestling tapings were a legit sellout at the Manhattan Center in NYC, as a reported 150-200 fans were turned away at the door, however, WZ reader Mike Perillo sent in the following eyewitness report:
Hello, my name is Mike I attended last night's (Friday) TNA Taping from NYC. First off, I wanna say the show was fantastic. The atmosphere inside the Manhattan Center was off the charts. However the show was not sold out. I had seats right next to the entrance way, and I pretty much had 4 full rows to myself as the seats were completely unoccupied throughout the show. I'm talking a good 30 seats. Like I said fantastic show and I had a blast, but was not a sold out show as advertised.
