WWE has added Fandango vs. Adam Rose to the kick-off portion of tonight’s Battleground PPV at the last minute, and both names have been pulled from the Intercontinental Championship battle royal. Cameron vs. Naomi is also scheduled for the kick-off show, marking the first time in many years – and certainly in the Network/YouTube era – that there will be two matches prior to the start of a PPV.
Summer Rae and Layla will likely be accompanying Adam Rose to the ring for his match tonight, to continue their program against Fandango.
KILLAM: I was going to write that it was the first time ever that WWE had two pre-show matches, but then thought back to the old Sunday Night Heat shows on the USA Network, and before that when WWE was on Spike TV. This likely has more to do with the budget cuts, as two matches will take away from needing a second announce team prior to the start of the show.
