Batista’s New Movie “Guardians of the Galaxy” Opens to Great Reviews, My Thoughts on the Movie & Batista’s Performance

guardians of the galaxyDave “Batista” Bautista’s new movie, “Guardians of the Galaxy,” officially opened today, and has received great reviews, generating a 92% score on RottenTomatoes.com.

Of the 156 reviews submitted, the film has garnered 143 positive reviews and only 13 negative reviews.

Paglino: I saw the movie last night, and agree with the positive reviews. If you are a fan of the “Guardians of the Galaxy” comic books, you will no doubt be a fan of the movie. The characters are dynamic, quirky, true to the source material, and are all, as Rocket self-proclaims, “jackasses.”

If you are not familiar with the source material I’d guess you’ll still like the movie, but if you’re only familiar with other Marvel works, this one is very different. At it’s nature it’s sarcastic and comedic, and where stories like The Avengers and X-Men are rooted in a bit more seriousness, this story certainly is not.

As for Batista, he is excellent as Drax The Destroyer. It helps that all the characters are very well written and three-dimensional, but Batista gives a performance you will anticipate when the sequel comes out. I dare say he’s perfect for the role, and off the top of my head can’t think of anyone of his likeness that could nail the nuances of the character quite like Batista.

If you’re on the fence about this movie, see it. If you aren’t on the fence about the movie and absolutely have no desire to see it, see it. If you aren’t on the fence about the movie and can’t wait to see it, stop waiting. Ok no more talk of fences.
