More On What Caused Alberto Del Rio Release, Stephanie Says UFC Isn’t Competition, WWE Is Value In Entertainment

Alberto del RioMore On Alberto Del Rio Release

As we previously reported last night, WWE abruptly released Alberto Del Rio from the company after citing he was involved in an incident with a company employee.

WWE said Alberto was released for ‘unprofessional conduct’, but no other details have been given by the company themselves. Several reports state Alberto slapped an employee, who may have been WWE.com reporter or producer, after being angered by them.

PWInsider is reporting that a source told them Alberto slapped the employee after reacting to a racist comment made to him. WWE has since stated they will not make an announcement beyond what was already posted on their website yesterday.

Stephanie Comments On UFC

As we previously reported, Triple H, Stephanie McMahon and WWE CFO George Barrios participated in the Needham Fireside Chat in New York City this week, and HHH made comments about how UFC is not competition. We have more on the discussion, with comments from Stephanie about how UFC is not comparable to WWE:

Stephanie On Why WWE Is A Great Value Compared To UFC:

With UFC you can pay money to watch a PPV but it can be a terrible fight, right? The guy you’re rooting for that UFC has been building gets knocked right off and suddenly that person doesn’t really matter anymore. All that investment is lost. You never have that with WWE, we strategically build out Superstars and characters. We know when they are going to win, we know when they are going to lose. We build characters and make them megastars. It’s all very intentional and you’re guaranteed to get your money’s worth. It might not necessarily be the outcome you wanted but you’re guaranteed to have a great match, a great pay-per-view and you’re guaranteed to get entertained.
