Alberto Del Rio’s WWE Firing Receives Mainstream Press Coverage, Was the Incident & His Release a Work?

alberto del rio's wwe firingAccording to F4WOnline.com, the backstage incident involving Alberto Del Rio slapping another WWE employee did in fact take place, and Del Rio is legitimately no longer with the company.

After the WWE Twitter account continued to blame Del Rio for his actions, and Triple H re-tweeted the WWE comments, there was speculation the entire thing is a work, however that is not the case, and Del Rio is actually gone from the company.

Del Rio has remained silent on Twitter since the incident took place.

Additionally, Alberto Del Rio’s WWE firing has been picked up by The Washington Post, and you can read more at this link.

Paglino: When WWE began to halt Del Rio’s push this year, I attributed it to Del Rio publicly admitting he wasn’t going to be with the company for too much longer.

Del Rio’s comments weren’t made out of frustration or unhappiness, however, but rather he felt he had been with WWE long enough, is financially stable as a result of his time spent in Mexico, and could always return to Mexico as an even bigger star than before.

With all that taken into consideration, I don’t see how the slapping incident could be a work, as it really doesn’t achieve much, WWE had no big plans for Del Rio, and it would confuse casual fans.
