Update: Alberto Del Rio Confirms Backstage Incident in WWE, How Long Until He Can Wrestle in the U.S. Again?

According to F4WOnline.com, recently released WWE star Alberto Del Rio did media in Mexico today and noted he cannot wrestle in the United States for one year.

Del Rio also confirmed a backstage incident did in fact take place between him and another WWE employee, however he did not go into detail.

Del Rio might have been found in breach of his WWE contract, which is why he cannot wrestle in the States for one year. When talents are found to be in breach of their contracts, they are no longer paid additional revenue from the time the breach occurred, and they are unable to wrestle or compete in MMA for one year.

Paglino: The report did not clarify whether Alberto Del Rio was in breach of his WWE contract because of the backstage incident, or because of his TripleMania appearance on Sunday, but the former is the likely case.

Del Rio’s non-compete clause with WWWE reportedly only pertains to him wrestling in the United States, making his appearance for AAA this weekend legal.

Nick was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, and lived there until the age of 18, when he decided to pack his flack jacket and move to New York City.

Nick first entered the internet wrestling community back in 2004 when he became the co-host of The Voice of Wrestling Radio Show. From there, Nick made the transition from radio personality to editor when he began working with WrestleZone in 2008.

Nick is a member of two Off-Broadway theatre companies, Another Urban Riff, and the Drama Desk Award winning Godlight Theatre Company. Nick has appeared in over a dozen Off-Broadway plays since he moved to New York City, and has shot several short and feature length films. In 2010, he completed principle photography on a film titled "How to Score Your Life," which also features TNA Knockout ODB.
