Dolph Ziggler defeated The Miz in the opening match at tonight’s WWE SummerSlam pay-per-view to become the Intercontinental Champion. This is Ziggler’s second run as Intercontinental Champion, and his sixth overall title in his WWE career.

KILLAM: The match was quite good, with Miz working most of the match trying to protect his face – or “money maker” – setting up a huge pop for Ziggler’s superkick. They had a huge false finish at the end with Dolph kicked out of the Skull Crushing Finale and hitting the Zig Zag for the win. A very solid opening match that should set the tone for a great night, and an interesting rematch at Night of Champion.
