WWE DevelopmentalFollowing a WWE training camp this summer, several new trainees have been signed to developmental deals. The most notable athlete is Sunny Dhinsa, a Canadian national freestyle wrestling champion, and potential Olympic candidate. Dhinsa had been training for the 2016 Olympics, but after an offer from WWE decided to pursue pro wrestling instead.

Other notable names are Zahra Schreiber, a tattooed female wrestler trained by Jimmy Jacobs, a 6’6″ bodybuilder from Chicago named Dustin Mueller, a model named Gionna Daddio, and wrestler/heavyweight MMA fighter Josh Woods, who has trained with UFC fighter Tom Lawlor.

Jeff Jarrett/ROH Update

We reported some time ago that Jeff Jarrett had a meeting scheduled with Ring of Honor owner Joe Koff for late October, but it was unknown what the two had on the table. According to Dave Meltzer, the meeting was primarily for Jeff to introduce himself to Joe, and for the two to talk about the upcoming New Japan Pro Wrestling Tokyo Dome show in January.

The current plan – although no contracts have been signed at this point – is for Jarrett’s Global Force Wrestling brand to partner with New Japan to bring the major Japanese wrestling event to U.S. PPV for the first time. The reason a conversation needed to be had with ROH management, is that there is currently a working relationship between the two sides.

Several Ring of Honor stars are expected to perform at the Tokyo Dome, including a match for the ROH World Championship. The problem with GFW sponsoring the event on U.S. PPV is that Ring of Honor currently forbids its contracted talent from appearing on any other promotion’s PPV. Jarrett and Koff will need to reach some sort of agreement, likely a financial one, that will benefit both sides. There is also talk of GFW wanting Ring of Honor to advertise the Tokyo Dome, and possible their brand, on their weekly TV series.
