Detailed 10/29 Lucha Underground Results & Review for the Debut Episode; Prince Puma & Johnny Mundo Work TV Match of the Year

Lucha Underground airs on the El Rey network every Wednesday night. The following are detailed results and a review of the debut episode, which aired this week.

Lucha Underground

October 29, 2014

-A cute ring announcer welcomes us to Lucha Underground. Matt Striker introduces himself, then Vampiro, and they hype tonight’s show.

-Lucha Underground host, promoter and owner Dario Cueto is introduced, and makes his way to the ring. Vampire notes that he’s not Mexican, he’s Spanish, so “people don’t like him”. Cueto says that this building isn’t a stadium where children cheer for their heroes, it’s his temple, where they honor traditions like honor and violence. He opens a briefcase to reveal $100,000, and says the luchador who impresses him the most tonight gets a signing bonus.

BLUE DEMON, JR. vs. CHAVO GUERRERO, JR.

We get a respectful handshake to start the match. They lock up and Chavo takes him down with an arm drag, but Demon traps him in a headscissors. Another old school lock up with both hands, and Demon wins the trade. They end up fighting to the floor and Chavo gets slapped in the face, then another hard slap back in the ring. Demon keeps slapping him, hard, and takes advantage of the angry response with a tilt-the-whirl backbreaker. Chavo comes back with a headscissors takedown to the floor. Blue Demon fights back and climbs to the top rope, but comes up empty with a senton splash. Guerrero now has control and puts his opponent on the top turnbuckle, and locks in a hanging triangle choke. The move looks cool, but Demon counters it pretty easily with a powerbomb from the top. He follows up with El Pulpo (modified Sharpshooter) for the submission.

Winner: BLUE DEMON, JR.
