NY Post Reacts Harshly to WWE Third Quarter Financials

Chael SonnenThe New York Post has published an article, titled “WWE Gets Ready to Crumble,” reacting harshly to the third quarter financials released by WWE yesterday.

The article noted WWE has only netted 3,000 more U.S. Network subscribers than the subscriber count released three months ago. The article also considers it particularly alarming that of the 700,000 Network subscribers WWE had going into the quarter, 255,000 dropped their subscription. This a churn rate of 36 percent.

Former Top UFC Name Says WWE Made Him a $5 Million Offer

Former UFC fighter Chael Sonnen has launched his own podcast, “You’re Welcome with Chael Sonnen,” and during a broadcast he claimed WWE made him a $5 million contract offer at one point, but he had to turn it down because he was still under contract to UFC.

“I was offered $5 million by Vince McMahon…Now, I was still under contract with the UFC and I never took this to Dana,” Sonnen said, via a CageWriter transcription. “I handled it on my own. I told them ‘No’ and that was the end of that. I never told Dana White this story, but here’s why I didn’t tell him. I knew if I called Dana and said, ‘I’ve got a $5 million offer from Vince McMahon,’ Dana would have matched it.”
