Update on Jim Ross Announcing “Wrestle Kingdom 9” in Tokyo; Check Out the First Trailer for the PPV w/ Clips from JR (Video)

jim ross Q&AAs Global Force Wrestling announced Tuesday morning, WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross will be returning to the pro wrestling commentary desk for the upcoming debut of New Japan Pro Wrestling on U.S. PPV, Wrestle Kingdom 9.

PWInsider.com reported earlier that JR would be ringside in Japan to call the action for the show, and this was something he was firm about doing when negotiating with GFW. TNA recently held their Bound for Glory PPV in Japan, but Mike Tenay and Tazz dubbed over the show with English commentary in post-production from the U.S., leading some to wonder if New Japan and JR would try something similar. It is also assumed that he will not be calling the action alone, and a color commentary will be announced in the coming weeks.

You can check out the first ever trailer for Wrestle Kingdom 9, featuring audio clips from “Good Ole” Jim Ross himself, reinforcing the fact that he will be live, at ringside, for the PPV.

KILLAM: Alright guys, for our readers that don’t follow NJPW news, and aren’t familiar with Wrestle Kingdom, here’s what you need to know. The show is basically the WrestleMania of Japanese pro wrestling. It’s the biggest event of the year for New Japan, and has drawn upwards of 60,000 people packed inside the Tokyo Dome. The show runs long – about five hours regularly, with an intermission – and features some of the most spectacular entrances and fanfare that you will ever see at a wrestling show; I haven’t even mentioned that they have, hands down, the best wrestlers on the planet in every division. Given that this will be the first time New Japan is broadcast in the U.S. on legitimate PPV, and the first time there will be English commentary (not to mention that it’s JIM ROSS), this is the premiere event of 2015 that you will want to be watching.
