Dolph Ziggler Reaches Big WWE TV & PPV Match Milestone

According to NorthAmericanWrestlingRankings.blogspot.com, which started keeping track of wrestlers’ records and ranking them as of  Nov. 2006, when Dolph Ziggler lost to Seth Rollins back on the 10/17/14 episode of Smackdown it was the Show Off’s 300th televised singles match, making him only the second wrestler [behind Randy Orton] to have wrestled that many televised singles matches! [As of 12/31/14 Ziggler has had 320 matches, Orton 339]. Kofi Kingston is knocking on the door to this milestone with 299 singles matches as of 12/31/14.

What Was the Idea Behind Ryback’s Promo on Raw This Week?

According to F4WOnline.com, the idea behind Ryback’s out-of-character promo on Raw this week was to allow the fans to connect to him on a new level by allowing The Big Guy to tell a very real, personal story.

In both an interview he did for the Sam Roberts Show back in 2013 and on his recent “Talk is Jericho” appearance, Ryback told a very similar story to the one he told on Raw.

Paglino: Personally, I thought the idea behind the promo was solid, but the execution was not. Even though Ryback was telling a real, legit story about his journey in WWE, it still felt like he was “cutting a promo” and reading from a script. The flubbed lines didn’t help much either. The promo also came out of left field, so it might take some time getting used to this “side” of The Big Guy.

That said, Ryback’s meathead “Feed Me More” gimmick has grown stale, so I’m glad to see WWE putting effort into a new approach with Ryback. Here’s to hoping he has more time on the mic to develop a more tangible connection with the crowd.
