Big Update on SummerSlam Venue Closing & the PPVs Future

summerslamNJ.com has posted an update regarding the status of The IZOD Center in East Rutherford, New Jersey, which was supposed to be the site of this year’s WWE SummerSlam PPV.

The update notes the facility will be shut down “temporarily” for at least two years, however some events through March will still take place at the venue.

While WWE issued a statement last week noting the company is actively seeking a Plan B for SummerSlam, nothing has been announced by WWE in terms of a new venue and Wayne Hasenbalg, president and chief executive officer of the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority, admitted that losing SummerSlam “was a big one,” and that he is working to get the show moved to the Prudential Center in Newark.
