Lanny Poffo Talks Macho Man in Hall Of Fame, Why He Allowed It, Who Should Be Next, What Does He Think Of The Von Erichs All Being Inducted?

wwe hall of fameLanny Poffo was a guest on SNS UnPlugged this week, and the former “Genius” spoke with hosts Tony Mirabella and Jeff Jackson about a number of topics, including Poffo’s brother, “Macho Man” Randy Savage, being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.

Poffo also talked about why he finally allowed the induction to take place, citing the fans as the reason. He says he wishes it could have happened before Randy died, and while he is happy Bruno Sammartino and the Ultimate Warrior were finally included, he wishes his brother got the same chance.

Poffo talked about how his mother received the news of Randy’s passing, saying it was harder for her to handle because it was her first born son, not her star wrestler son like most viewed him. He said his father was “lucky” to have passed before Randy, but his mother had survived to see that, although she is doing great now.

Host Jeff Jackson asks Poffo when Randy made the request that the whole Poffo family was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame, and he says it was April 10, 2009, on their father’s birthday. He says Randy was complaining about the Von Erich family all being inducted, and said the only way he would go in is if it were with his father and brother. Poffo thinks WWE might have inducted the Von Erichs for political reasons since it was in Texas, but he wanted to honor his brother’s wish; he mentioned WWE wanted to induct Savage in Miami (Wrestlemania 28), but he denied the request.
