SpikeTV Signs Major Deal With The Rock’s Production Company, Likely Reason Why Spike Dropped Pro Wrestling

During its upfront presentation today, SpikeTV unveiled a new logo for the network as well as a new slogan, reports The Hollywood Reporter.

Additionally, the network announced it has signed a deal with $7 Bucks Productions, which is owned by The Rock and his ex-wife Dany Garcia. The production company will produce content for Spike focused on troops and veterans, and programming will range from live events, specials and initiatives to sports related projects.

It seems one of the reasons why SpikeTV dropped pro wrestling, specifically TNA, from its line-up, is because the network is going in a different direction now, appealing more to men and women, as opposed to its previous demographic, which was just men.

SpikeTV’s new slogan is “Spike: The Ones to Watch.”
