WWE Issues a Statement on Suspicion of Brock Lesnar “Blading” During WrestleMania Main Event

wrestlemania 31Earlier today we posted a GIF of what appears to be a referee handing Roman Reigns an object during his main event match with Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania. There has been a lot of speculation over the amount of blood lost by the former champion during the match, and whether or not he was legitimately busted open when thrown into a ring post.

A WWE spokesperson issued the following statement to Wrestlezone on the matter:

“WWE programming is TV-PG and we don’t permit intentional bleeding. The communication or contact between our performers and referees is part of our safety protocol. That said, unintentional blood sometimes occurs, and we do our best to minimize.”

For what it’s worth, I’ve watched the footage of Brock going into the ring post about a dozen times, and in my estimation he clearly got busted open the hard way. He was walking around with zero blood right before the spot, and starting dripping blood one second after hitting the post. So far that I could tell, there’s no passing of anything from Roman to Brock in the five minutes that passes between the alleged ref spot and Brock hitting the post.
