Steve Austin on John Cena Gimmick Infringement, Vince McMahon Remembers Ultimate Warrior (VIDEO)

Austin on Cena’s “Stunner”

steve austinThis week’s episode of The Steve Austin Show featured Mark Bell, founder of Super Training Gym, and his brother Chris who is a documentary filmmaker. The trio discussed WrestleMania 31, all their favorite (and least favorite) matches, but more.

One of the highlights of the show, Austin made them watch a video of John Cena‘s new springboard stunner, which they all referred to as “gimmick infringement” throughout the interview. “Stone Cold” did mention he was still friendly with WWE and didn’t seem personally upset about the U.S. Champ modifying one of his moves.

The problem Austin brought up is that they could have used it to pick up a few wins, legitimizing it as a potential finisher instead of just another another kick-out scenario. Not to mention how precise the execution needs to be to pull it off correctly, and so much can go wrong with a bigger guy doing a springboard spot.

“Had they looked further down the road than the short term, [Cena] would have had a valid, great, badass finish instead of a set-up that now means nothing.”
