WWE Finally Working on Documentary For the Late Owen Hart; Details Released Today on What Would Have Been His 50th Birthday

owen hartToday, on what would have been the 50th birthday of the late, great Owen Hart, WrestlingDVDNews.com has officially confirmed that WWE is working on a documentary on the life and career of one of the industry’s greatest in-ring wrestlers and personalities.

The website reports that despite years of arguments, litigation and bad blood between WWE and Martha Hart – Owen’s widow – the DVD and Blu-ray set will be released with the full support of Martha and the legendary Hart family.

This is exciting news for both Owen fans and those looking to explore his career for the very first time. While older brother Bret Hart has had numerous DVD features over the years, there has never before been an in-depth look at the self-proclaimed “King of Harts”.

Owen Hart was a two-time WWE Intercontinental champion, European champion, a four-time tag team champion and the 1994 King of the Ring winner. He wrestled arguably the greatest match in SummerSlam history with Bret in 1994 – awarded five stars by Dave Meltzer – and was the Wrestling Observer’s “Best Flying Wrestler” in 1987 and 1988. He won Pro Wrestling Illustrated’s Editor’s Award, Feud of the Year and Rookie of the Year awards, and in 1994 was ranked #10 out of every wrestler in the world.

We look forward to more information being released in the coming weeks and months on this highly anticipated documentary, and will provide updates as they become available. Happy birthday, Owen!
